What to sow in October
October winds the outdoor season down. What is still outside grows slowly until the first frost; sowing outdoors makes little sense now. Indoors it does: on a bright windowsill or under a lamp you carry on with herbs, lettuce and microgreens. This is also the month to prepare pots for frost.
Start indoors
Sow outdoors
Too cold or too dark to sow outdoors — wait for spring.
